Physician Leader, Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO), Integrated Kidney Care (IKC)

Dr. Gregory Spin is a board-certified nephrologist and Physician Leader within DaVita’s Integrated Kidney Care (IKC) Office of the Chief Medical Officer. In this role, he partners with Kidney Care Entities (KCEs) across multiple regions to support physician engagement, strengthen clinical alignment, and advance high-quality, value-based kidney care. He has also served as a participating clinical leader for the Northern California CKCC since the program’s inception.

With more than 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Spin is known for his thoughtful, peer-to-peer approach—helping translate value-based care into practical, meaningful change for physicians and care teams. He has served as CEO of Summit Nephrology Medical Group, an independent practice he co-founded in Northern California in 2005. A dedicated DaVita Medical Director since 2008, he has supported both in-center and home modality clinics. His commitment to his patients and peers has been recognized with several honors, including DaVita’s Core Value Award for Fulfillment and the Sutter Independent Physicians Award for Clinical Excellence.

Dr. Spin completed his residency, chief year, and nephrology fellowship at UC Davis. He earned his medical degree from the Western University of Health Sciences after completing his undergraduate studies at Cornell University.

He believes deeply in the power of collaboration, gratitude, and shared purpose to improve patient outcomes. Outside of work, Dr. Spin enjoys tennis, reading, running, traveling, good food, and spending time with his wife, Kay, their family, and friends.
