Eric Weinhandl, PhD, MS, is the vice president of epidemiology at DaVita. Dr. Weinhandl specializes in home dialysis research and surveillance, with the goal of not only increasing the utilization of home dialysis but also optimizing the clinical outcomes that both peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis can deliver. Dr. Weinhandl also focuses on the analysis of healthcare claims data to better understand variability in the care of patients with advanced chronic kidney disease and to execute comparative effectiveness studies.
Dr. Weinhandl is a well-known expert in end-stage kidney disease registry data and has extensive experience with the United States Renal Data System (USRDS). He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in epidemiology and a Master of Science in biostatistics, both from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. He continues to serve as an adjunct associate professor at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy.
