Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Sichuan peppercorns
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seeds
  • 4 teaspoons anise seeds 

Preparation

  1. Grind all spices and keep in an airtight container until ready to use in a recipe.

Helpful hints

  • Chinese Five Spice is popular in Chinese cooking and many Asian dishes.
  • Use Chinese Five Spice in egg rolls, Chinese bok choy soup or roast chicken drumsticks.
  • Sichuan peppercorns are also known as Szechuan peppercorns.
