Dining Out Successfully at Coney Island

Coney Island - Historic Seaside Town, Brooklyn New York

Our next foodie adventure takes us to Coney Island. There are so many different Coney Island restaurants all across the United States. One thing for sure is that you are bound to find something that fits your kidney diet with all the different menu options that are available to you.

Caution: Salt Ahead

The biggest thing to watch out for when dining at a Coney Island restaurant is the salt content of the items that are served. Typically on a kidney diet it is suggested to aim below 2000 mg of sodium a day. Some of the items that are on Coney Island menus can exceed this amount. A whole day’s worth of sodium in a single meal is definitely not kidney-friendly!

Below is a list of food options that are lower in salt content and that may fit well with your diet. Always consult your dietitian or doctor for the specific diet that is right for you as kidney diet guidelines vary for each individual.
