Ingredients
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1/4 cup onion
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup guava paste
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 tablespoons ketchup or tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Preparation
- Finely chop garlic and dice the onion into small pieces. Heat oil in a skillet and add chopped garlic and onion and cook until translucent.
- Add guava paste and water and stir until smooth and the paste dissolves.
- Add the remaining ingredients and cook over low to medium heat until smooth, about 5 to 10 minutes. Be sure to not let the sauce boil.
- Remove the skillet from heat and let cool.
- Store sauce in a jar or covered container until ready to use.
Helpful hints
- Baste meat with sauce at the end of cooking.
