Ingredients

  • 4-1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup distilled vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Mix ingredients in a small roasting pan.
  3. Bake until brown and thickened (approximately 2 hours), stirring occasionally during baking.
  4. Pour into a sterile container and refrigerate or freeze for later use. 

Helpful hints

  • Use as a spread on toast or bagels or as a sauce for pork chops.
